PHELPS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO SPONSOR COLORAMA 5K WALK/RUN AND COMMUNITY BRUNCH

The Phelps Chamber of Commerce has announced it will sponsor a “Colorama” 5K walk/run and brunch on Sunday, September 19, 2010. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Phelps School with registration from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in Men's and Women's age classes. Those classes are 12 and under, 13-16, 17-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.

In addition to the medals for the walk/run winners, each registered participant will receive free brunch which will take place at the Phelps School from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The registration cost for the walk/run is $20 before the early bird deadline of September 13 and $25 after that.

The entire community is invited to enjoy brunch at a cost of $10 for adults and children over 12 and $5 for children 12 and under. Children 2 and under are free.

In conjunction with the Chamber event, the Phelps Women's Club is sponsoring a “Scarecrow Gathering” at the Phelps School on Sunday, September 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Community members are encouraged to build a scarecrow or paint a pumpkin and bring it to the school for a 1:00 p.m. judging. In addition, there will be art, pumpkin coloring and face painting for kids under 12. Refreshments will be available. Every year the Vilas County Chamber of Commerce hosts an accommodations tour and workshop. This year, the tour is being co-hosted by the Phelps Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place on October 14. The cost for the event is $20 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, a tour of three facilities in Phelps, a workshop, other presentations and a roundtable session.
